Bryan Singer told an audience at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea that he wanted to make another X-Men film and has been in discussions with the Fox Studio, which holds the rights to the property. Singer directed the first two X-Men films, which were well-received by both comic book fans and film critics, before opting out of helming the third in order to direct Superman Returns. Brett Ratner brought his leaden touch to X-Men: The Last Stand, while Gavin Hood directed this year’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Singer told the Korean audience, “I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast.” The X-Men films allowed Singer to examine serious issues in an entertaining way. As the director put it, “The excitement about working in science fiction and fantasy is—the stories, if they are good, are about the human condition.”
