Twentieth Century Fox has approved two directors for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel and the studio is leaving the final decision up to star Hugh Jackman, according to an article on New York Magazine’s Vulture blog. The two helmers in question are David Slade who directed The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and Robert Schwentke, who directed the upcoming comic book-based Red and The Time Traveler’s Wife.
Studio sources indicate that Slade probably has the inside track on the job because he has fewer projects on his plate. The script for the Wolverine sequel, which has been written by Christopher McQuarrie, finds Logan involved in a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman who has been promised to another, which leads him into conflict with the woman’s father and brothers, one of whom is almost certain to be the "Silver Samurai."
