Disney Book Group has scheduled the release of four graphic novels this Fall, under two imprints. Disney Press will issue a pair of trade paperbacks. The first is Tron: The Betrayal Graphic Novel, written by Jae Nitz and drawn by Andie Tong, meant to serve as a bridge between the original Tron from 1982 and the upcoming movie Tron: Legacy. It’s 128 pages, has a SRP of $9.99 and is set for release on November 16. Marvel is serializing this material as a two-part mini-series, the first issue shipping in October. The film got a strong push at Comic-Con, and is being heavily promoted by Disney (see “Comic-Con Wrap-Up”).
The second Disney Press release is Hey, Where’s Perry by John Green, the third in its Phineas & Ferb Comic Readers series which turns animation stills into comic panels to retell episodes from the top-rated cartoon series. It retails for $4.99 and will be released on October 12.
The Disney Hyperion imprint has a pair of hardcovers which adapt the first volumes of two best-selling young adult novel series. The Lightning Thief: The Graphic Novel is written by Rick Riordan, creator of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and Robert Venditti, and drawn by Attila Futaki. It’s 128 pages and has a publication date of October 12. And The Amulet of Samarkand: A Bartimaeus Graphic Novel, written by series creator Jonathon Stroud and Andrew Donkin and illustrated by Lee Sullivan and Nicolas Chapuis is144 pages and will be released on November 2.
