Cable channel BBC America has acquired all four seasons of the modern Battlestar Galactica series that was revived by producers David Eick and Ronald D. Moore.  BBC America has struck a deal with NBC Universal TV for all 75 episodes of the compelling science fiction series as well as the initial two-part 3-hour miniseries.  BSG will begin its rerun on BBC America as part of the cable net’s “Supernatural Saturday” lineup at 7pm (ET, PT) on June 18th.

The revamped Battlestar Galactica, which reached impressive levels of relevance for a science fiction series with a narrative that paralleled today's "war on terror," was a ratings hit for the Syfy (then Sci-Fi) network. It was the second most watched cable show of 2009. BBC America has previously broadcast a number of science fiction series such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, which did not originate in the U.K. The “Supernatural Saturday” block will also include the new Doctor Who season, which debuts in the U.S. this Saturday on BBC America. The science fiction drama Outcasts, which is produced in the U.K. by Kudos (Life on Mars) and shot in South Africa, will debut along with BSG on Saturday, June 18th.
