J.J. Abrams has cast Alice Eve for a role in the Star Trek sequel, according to Variety.  She’ll play a new character that has not been revealed.  One other actor new to the cast is Benicio del Toro, who has also not yet been signed (see “Del Toro in ‘Star Trek 2’”).  Eve’s character is a new one; del Toro will play a character that’s previously appeared in the Trek universe. 

The release date has now been set as May 17, 2013 (see “’Star Trek’ Sequel Date Set”).
