NBC’s reboot of The Munsters has found the actress to play the role of Marilyn, the cute coed, who is the only “normal” denizen of 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Beverly Owen created the role of Marilyn in the original Munsters, but it was the “button-cute” Pat Priest who played the part for the majority of the series, and who left the greatest impression. British actress Charity Wakefield, who was luminous in the BBC production of Sense and Sensibility, will play the demure, congenial college student whose good manners and social skills stand in stark contrast to those of the rest of the Munster clan.
According to Deadline, Wakefield will portray Marilyn in the pilot for the new series, which is being directed by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men, see "Bryan Singer on 'Munsters'"), which will also star Eddie Izzard as Grandpa (see "Grandpa Cast for 'Munsters' Reboot”). Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) is writing and producing the Munsters pilot, which will be entitled Mockingbird Lane.
