Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced that principal photography began today (March 18th) in Vancouver, Canada on a new version of Godzilla being directed by Gareth Edwards from a script by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead), and David Callaharn.
In announcing the start of shooting Warner Bros. also included a cast listing that contained a number of previously announced actors such as Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, and David Straithairn (see "'Godzilla' Casting Underway"), as well as Juliet Binoche (Jurassic Park) and Ken Watanabe (Batman Begins, The Last Samurai). The new Godzilla is set to unspool in 3-D nationwide on May 16th, 2014.
