DC Comics will run a 30 second ad for the Before Watchmen hardcovers on selected cable networks, including TNT, IFC and TruTv. The campaign will be launched on July 16th with an appearance on the Time Square Jumbotron, the first time this has been done for a comic book or graphic novel advertisement.
The ad bears a striking resemblance to the commercial DC did at the launch of the series last year in June, but without the characters’ voiceover (see "DC to Run TV Ads for 'Before Watchmen'"). The advertising blitz will likely have a positive impact on the sales of the recently released hardcover editions of the series (see "DC Unveils Chip Kidd's 'Before Watchmen' Covers").
