Central Park Media is readying its DVD edition of Animation Runner Kuromi for release on September 9th, just a few days after the prize-winning OVA debuts at the Big Apple Anime Fest (August 29-31).  Directed by Akitaroh Daichi (Fruits Basket, Jubei-Chan), Animation Runner Kuromi is the ultimate behind-the-scenes anime saga.  The winner of the 'Best OVA' award at the Tokyo Anime Fair in 2001, Animation Runner Kuromi follows the progress of Kuromi, who has just landed her dream job at the famous animation Studio Petit.  When her boss is hospitalized, Kuromi has to race against the clock to finish production on Time Journeys, Episode 2 even though her crew turns out to be the ultimate team of slackers.

 

CPM's DVD contains lots of extras, including a commentary by director Daichi, a featurette on the process of animation, an art gallery, a sketch gallery, trailers, previews and a choice of an English or a Japanese (with English subtitles) soundtrack.  The DVD's running time is 80 minutes (40 minutes of program, 40 minutes of commentary) and the srp of this 16 and Up-rated anime is $24.95.
