Time to round up the geek TV stories from the last couple of days.
Game of Thrones has a start date for Season 5, according to Slashfilm, which reports that it will kick off Sunday, April 12, roughly in line with last year’s launch date. HBO is giving the new season a great kick-off with an IMAX release of the last two episodes of Season 4 and a special trailer for Season 5 later this month (see "'Game of Thrones' in IMAX Theaters").
There’s lots of news about villains for The Flash, which kicks off the second half of its freshman season on January 20th. Liam McIntyre has been cast as Weather Wizard, who will appear in episodes 15 and 16 of Season 1, according to Variety. McIntyre is best known for playing the title role in seasons three and four of Spartacus.
And the CW has released a new promo, showing Captain Cold (played by Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), and the Pied Piper (Andy Mientus).
Marvel announced that Edward James Olmos, who cemented a place among geek favorites with his turn as Bill Adama in Battlestar Galactica, will appear in the current season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’ll play Robert Gonzales, and his appearance will have "major repercussions" for Coulson and the team, according to the announcement.
Bob’s Burgers has been renewed for a sixth season of 22 episodes, according to Variety. The show was up against The Walking Dead and Sunday Night Football for the fall portion of its season and has had solid ratings. After two previous nominations without a win, the show received an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program in 2014.
