The Scooby-Doo gang is joining the parade of elite pop culture properties that have “gone square to get hip” through the good offices of the folks at LEGO, who can turn seemingly anything into a buildable stack of blocks. Just as with Star Wars or the DC superheroes, the wizards at LEGO will create blockish mini-figures of Scooby, Shaggy, Fred, Velma, and Daphne to go along with a buildable Mystery Machine van, all of which should be available in August along with Haunted Lighthouse and Mummy Museum playsets.
According to Variety, Warner Bros. Animation, which created 2014’s LEGO Movie, will also produce a 22-minute Scooby-Do LEGO TV Special, which will likely air on the Cartoon Network where it should be able to spur sales of the new LEGO Scooby-Doo toy line.
