Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Sin City, Machete) has signed on to direct and co-write the live action Jonny Quest feature from Warner Bros., according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rodriguez will work with writer Terry Rossio (Mask of Zorro, Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean) on the well-regarded script by Dan Mazeau, which has been floating around since 2009 (see "'Jonny Quest' Getting a Polish"). Peter Segal had been attached to direct as recently as 2013, also from the Mazeau script.
Rodriguez has a wide-ranging oeuvre, with Spy Kids probably the closest approximation to the feel of the Jonny Quest property.
Dan Lin (Lego Movie) and Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) are producing.
