Guillotine Games and CoolMiniOrNot have revealed more details about the upcoming medieval fantasy version of the hit Zombicide game announced in April (see "'Zombicide' Goes Medieval").  Zombicide: Black Plague will release to trade in January 2016.

Like its original, modern-day cousin, Zombicide: Black Plague is a cooperative board game that pits the players against never-ending hordes of shambling undead.  In this version, the setting is a typical medieval fantasy kingdom, complete with magic spells, elves, dwarves, and other fantasy elements.  The heroes must combat not only a horde of undead, but also the evil necromancers responsible for their animation.

The game includes 9 double-sided board tiles that can be used to construct a variety of medieval towns and villages, 71 plastic miniatures, 6 plastic "survivor dashboards" that function as a card sorter and game tracker for the survivors, 48 plastic trackers, 6 dice, 125 game cards, 63 tokens, and a booklet with rules and scenarios.  MSRP is $99.99.

The first expansion set has also been announced:
Zombicide: Wulfsburg.  This expansion adds four new heroes, complete with survivor dashboards to allow up to ten players in the game.  Also included are packs of zombie wolves, new spells, and new equipment.

Zombicide: Wulfsburg includes 2 double-sided board tiles, 22 zombie wolf miniatures, 4 survivor miniatures, 4 survivor dashboards, 32 plastic trackers, 30 game cards, and rulebook.  MSRP is $60.

Additional supporting products will also be available, including the
Hero Box -1 (MSRP $25), an extra tiles pack (MSRP $30), the npc-2--or "notorious plagued characters"--boxed set (MSRP $25), the Murder of Crowz boxed set (MSRP $25), and four Special Guest character sets featuring artwork by Carl Critchlow, Adrian Smith, Gipi, and Paolo Parente (MSRP $25 each).  A CMON representative told ICv2 the complete Black Plague line will eventually include more than a dozen supporting SKUs.

Every Zombicide Kickstarter campaign has been very successful, with two of them currently sitting on ICv2’s increasingly-difficult-to-reach Top 10 Tabletop Kickstarter chart (see "Top 10 Tabletop Game Kickstarters").  With 18 more days to go on its campaign and $1,910,411 pledged as of this writing, Zombicide: Black Plague has already broken into that exclusive fraternity as well; now the only question is how high in the Top 10 it will rank.
