Former Doctor Who star David Tennant has joined the voice cast of the animated feature adaptation of John Layman and Rob Guillory’s Chew series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Tennant will voice Chu’s mentor-turned-menace Mason Savoy.

Tennant is best known for his portrayal of the Tenth Doctor on Doctor Who, though he has voice role credits from DreamWorks Dragons and Star Wars: the Clone Wars. Tennant will join stars Steven Yeun and Felicia Day (see "Steven Yeun, Felicia Day in 'Chew'"), who recorded their voice parts last year. According to the THR article, the Savoy role was originally going to be filled by Robin Williams, who was in negotiations for the role at the time of his suicide.

Layman posted this picture of Tennant on Twitter, holding a Chog (the chicken/frog hybrids from the Chew series).
