Brian Konietzo, co-creator of the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar:  The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, has signed with First Second to produce a five-volume graphic novel series titled Threadworld, the company announced.  The first volume will be released in 2017. 

The story will be set on a group of five planets sharing a single orbit, each teeming with life at a diferent level of technological progress.  Nova, the heroine, is a young scientist from the most primitive Threadworld who is out of step with the superstitious, oppressive empire that rules her world.  The story follows a chain reaction of scientific discoveries that ripple from world to world.  Images were released via EW.
