Sales on IDW Games’ hit card game, Machi Koro by Masao Suganuma, have topped 100,000 copies, executives at IDW confirm. This includes only sales on the base game, and does not include sales on expansions. With six printings since its release a little over a year ago, IDW has worked hard to keep up with demand.
The game has had an impressive sales history, with regular appearances on ICv2’s Top 10 Card/Dice Games chart (here at #3 for Spring 2015, see "Top 10 Card/Dice Games – Spring 2015").
And it’s also had its share of award attention with a Spiel des Jahres nomination (see "2015 Spiel des Jahres Nominations").
Next up is the Deluxe Edition, which IDW is showing off at Gen Con (see "'Machi Koro Deluxe Edition'").
Machi Koro is expected to go into broader distribution later year.
