Warner Bros. has announced a September 21, 2018 release date for a new animated Scooby-Doo feature film via the Warner Animation Group. Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, the American Hustle producers who also made the last two Scooby-Doo live action features, are set to produce with Allison Abbate (The Iron Giant, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie).
Tony Cervone, who was the animation director on Space Jam and has a variety of TV and OVA director credits, will direct, with storyboarder/director Dan Povenmire (Family Guy, Phineas and Ferb) on board as executive producer.
Warners is using the script it commissioned from Matt Lieberman back in 2013 (see “’Scooby-Doo’ Animated Film in Development”).
Warner Bros. also has a live action Scooby-Doo film in development (see “Warners Prepping Live-Action ‘Scooby-Doo’ Reboot”).
