The cast and crew of Star Wars: The Force Awakens will return to an island off the southern coast of Ireland later this month for several days of additional photography, according to Entertaiment Weekly. While reshoots are not unusual, these are being done unusually close to the release of the film in December.
Other reshoots have been ongoing for several weeks, according to the report, with work even being done while the cast was in the Los Angeles area for D23 a few weeks back. While reshoots aren’t unusual, reshoots this close to the release of the film leave very limited time to finish work on the film before it’s released.
New footage was recently released in a teaser video (see "New 'Force Awakens' Teaser").
