DH Publishing is preparing the first collection of Anime Poster Art ever published in the U.S.  The 112-page, 10.25' x 8' trade paperback contains over 160 full color reproductions of original Japanese poster designs and has a cover price of $19.95.  Titles represented in this volume include Akira, Dragonball Z, Lupin III, Urusei Yatsura, Space Battleship Yamato, Mobile Suit Gundam, 12 films from Studio Ghibli (Miyazaki's studio) and much more.

Most of these posters have never been seen before outside of Japan.  In general Japanese companies keep a very tight rein on images from the works they create, which has resulted in a surprising lack of volumes such as Anime Poster Art from an industry that is overwhelmingly visual.  In addition to images, Anime Poster Art includes storylines, background info, insider information, and catch copy for each title printed in both Japanese and English.  Patrick Macias, author of the highly regarded TokyoScope: The Japanese Cult Film Companion (and a regular columnist in Animerica), provides the introduction.
