100 Bullets creator Brian Azzarello will write the modern-day Frankenstein’s monster story American Monster for Aftershock Comics, launching in January.
The series, with art by Juan Doe (Wolverines,Solar, Man of the Atom), will follow Theo Montclare, a war veteran who returns home to his small Northwestern town after having been scarred and disfigured during his tour. There have been other changes to Theo as well, to his emotional and interpersonal make-up. Will he adjust to normal life, or be shunned like Dr. Frankenstein’s fabled monster?
Actor Tom Hardy was recently announced as a producer, with an eye to star, on the Hollywood adaptation of Azzarello and Eduardo Risso’s 100 Bullets comic (see "Tom Hardy Producing '100 Bullets' Adaptation"). Azzarello is also co-scripting Frank Miller’s forthcoming Dark Knight III (see "Andy Kubert & Klaus Janson on 'Dark Knight III'").
Aftershock announced its initial slate for December last month (see "AfterShock Announces Initial Slate").
