American Family Association "project" One Million Moms has started a phone and email petition to Kay Jewelers, urging them to stop sponsoring Fox’s Lucifer.
Apparently targeting the national advertisers rather than show producer Fox is the group’s strategy, as the complaint is a carbon copy of its complaint to show advertiser Olive Garden last week (see "One Million Moms Targets Olive Garden"). The group calls the show "spiritually dangerous" and "meant to make people rethink assumptions about good and evil, including about God and Satan." The petition shares Kay Jewelers 1-800 number, a sample e-mail to sign and send, and social media contacts for the company.
The page also helpfully shares that "Lucifer airs on Monday evenings at 9:00 p.m. ET/8:00 p.m. CT with a 14-DLSV rating."
Their strategy has met with some successes against other shows' advertisers. The group posts its weekly victories on its webpage from pressuring advertisers for shows including Teachers (Eggland’s Best), Angel from Hell (Sleep Number), Impastor (Christian Mingle), Becoming Us (Excedrin), and Black Jesus (Prestone).
There has been no statement from Olive Garden regarding the campaign.
