Monte Cook Games plans to release a series of campaign setting books for its Cypher System roleplaying game, starting with Gods of the Fall in June, and continuing into late next year.  A supporting Asset Deck is also planned for this autumn.

The Cypher System is Monte Cook’s in-house generic roleplaying system, used for its Numenera and The Strange product lines.  A core rulebook was released last year (see “‘The Cypher System Rulebook’”).  Now, the company is planning to produce a series of campaign settings that use the Cypher System.  Each book will be a 192-page hardcover.  MSRP has not yet been announced.

The first title, Gods of the Fall, is scheduled to release in June.  This book describes an epic fantasy world struggling to recover from a divine catastrophe.  Players can become the new gods of this world by completing divine labors and fulfilling their prophecies.

Later this autumn, the Asset Deck will release.  This game aid adds new features to the Cypher System in the form of “assets” that GMs can give to players as rewards.  Players can these use these cards to help their characters perform tasks in the game.  The Asset Deck includes 100 cards.

Next up will be Predation, scheduled for next spring.  In this setting, a time-travelling society has settled in the late Cretaceous, using their advanced tech to survive in the age of the dinosaurs.  But they must also contend with the epoch-ending asteroid due to arrive soon.

Finally, Unmasked is expected to release in Fall 2017.  This setting combines elements of superpowered heroes and psychological horror.  Characters gain abilities through mystical masks, but using the masks can cost their sanity.

Monte Cook Games is funding the production through a Kickstarter campaign, which easily reached its funding goals within the first day, and has exceeded $114,000 from over 900 backers as of March 3.  The campaign includes two retailer-only packages, which include promotional materials and an opportunity to sell copies before the street date.
