The sequel to 1996’s blockbuster Independence Day picks up 20 years after the alien invasion that nearly destroyed mankind. Now the aliens have returned to finish the job, but humanity has had 10 years to prepare and reverse-engineer alien tech to help even the odds. Multiple stars from the original film are returning to reprise their roles (see “New 'Independence Day: Resurgence' Trailer”).

Titan Comics recently released a prequel comic for the film, covering some of the time between where the first movie left off and where the sequel picks up (see “Titan Reveals 'Independence Day' Comic Details”).

The film opens in theaters on June 24.
