Brie Larsen is in "early talks" to play the title role in Captain Marvel, according to Variety. The Oscar-winner (Room) would be a key part of a package to attract a director; there currently is no director attached.
Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) are writing the script (see "'Captain Marvel' Writers Announced"), with release moved back two times to March 8, 2019 (see "Marvel Announces 'Ant-Man and the Wasp' Movie").
Larson will be known to geek audiences; she played Envy Adams in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (see "'Scott Pilgrim' Cast Takes Shape").
