The ninth wave of starship expansions for Fantasy Flight Games’ popular Star Wars:  X-Wing Miniatures Game is scheduled to release in the third quarter of this year.  This wave will include four new starships:  ARC-170, Special Forces TIE, Protectorate Starfighter, and Shadow Caster.

The ARC-170 Expansion Pack introduces a retrofitted Rebel Alliance version of the primary starfighter used by the clones during the Galactic Civil War.  These sluggish fighters feature heavy armament, strong shields, and a tail gunner.  The set also includes four new aces, one of whom is Poe Dameron’s mother Shara Bey, and nine new upgrade cards.  MSRP is $19.95.

The First Order is featured in the Special Forces TIE Expansion Pack, which has a two-seater version of the iconic Imperial fighter.  This version is equipped with upgraded shields, weapons, and sensors, at a slight cost to the vehicle’s agility.  This set also has four new pilots and five upgrades.  MSRP is $14.95.

The Protectorate Starfighter Expansion Pack presents a Mandalorian combat vessel with excellent maneuverability and a hidden torpedo launcher.  Inspired by Star Wars Rebels, this vessel is part of the Scum and Villainy Fleet.  Six ship cards and two upgrade cards round out this set.  MSRP is $14.95.

The last expansion in the wave is the Shadow Caster Expansion Pack, centered around the agile and powerful ship flown by the bounty hunter Ketsu Onyo, as seen in Star Wars Rebels, armed with swivel-mounted laser cannons and a tractor beam.  Another addition to the Scum and Villainy faction, this kit includes three new pilots, including a new version of Sabine Wren, and debris tokens to create hazards on the battlefield.  MSRP is $39.95.

Fantasy Flight also plans to release a larger X-Wing expansion in the third quarter featuring characters from The Force Awakens (see “‘Heroes of the Resistance’ Join ‘Star Wars X-Wing’”).
