Konami Digital Entertainment will be hosting a Yu-Gi-Oh!  Championship Series event at the Origins Game Fair later this month.  The tournament will be held on June 18 and 19, as part of the larger five day game convention held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to the tournament, fans of the animated series will have a chance to meet two of the voice actors:  Darren Dunstan (“Maximillion Pegasus”) and Wayne Grayson (“Joey Wheeler”), who will be on hand during the weekend to sign autographs and participate in a Q & A session on Saturday as part of Origins’ Anime Track.

Registered Duelists will each receive five Shining Victories booster packs and an exclusive YCS Origins Participation game mat.

The top finishers in the main event will be awarded invitations to the 2016 World Championship Qualifier in Pittsburgh this July.  The first place winner will also receive an Ultra Rare version of “Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn” and event trophy.  Top finishers can also win a Top Cut Game Mat and other prizes.

Aside from the main tournament, there will be a Dragon Duels tournament running through the entire convention for players born 2003 or later.  Each participant will receive 10 sealed Battle Pack:  Epic Dawn to build their decks.  The top four players will receive medals, a Regional Deck Box, 2016 Regional game mat, and in invitation to the Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier.  The top player each day will compete in a final showdown for the Dragon Duel Champion’s Trophy and Super Rare YCS prize card.

To help promote the game to the public, Konami will also offer a number of Public Events during the fair, including the introduction of the new Generation Duel.  In this event, players can play with pre-designed decks based on one of the five Yu-Gi-Oh!  animated series.  The regular range of YCS-related events will also be featured at the convention, including 2016 Regional Qualifiers, Ultimate Duelist Series Qualifiers, School Tournament Series, 3 vs. 3 Team Dueling, ATTACK OF THE GIANT CARD!!, and Win-A-Mat competitions.

The expansion of Konami’s presence for Yu-Gi-Oh! at Origins comes in the wake of a reduction of the company’s participation in nearby show Gen Con (see “Gen Con Nearing Limits of Indianapolis”).
