Caliber Comics has announced an agreement with Diamond Comic Distributors that will see Diamond offering 4-5 collections of Caliber comics on a monthly basis starting in the August issue of Previews that lists products shipping in October. Caliber Publisher Gary Reed indicated that the Caliber collections listed in the August Previews will include Kevin Van Hook’s comic book adaptation of The Rocky Horror Picture Show; Deadworld: Requiem for the World, which collects the Image Comics miniseries by Reed and Vincent Locke (Sandman); Mike Carey and Michael Gaydos’ Inferno: A Sleep and a Forgetting; the anthology collection Caliber Presents #1; and Wayne Vansant’s historical GN Days of Darkness, which chronicles America’s war in the Pacific from Pearl Harbor to the Battle of Midway.
Announcing the return of Caliber Comics in 2014, Reed noted that the company’s initial focus would be on reprints of material that Caliber published during its heyday in the 1990s (see “Caliber Comics Returns”). Now over two years later Reed indicates that the company’s focus is starting to shift toward new projects: “Although we centered on collections initially, we’ve had quite a shift to all new original graphic novels over the last year as creators bring their projects to us, and increasingly, that will be at the core of Caliber for the future…. producing creator owned original graphic novels.” To view the other August Caliber Collections covers, see the Gallery below.
