Warner Bros.' production of the film based on DC’s Justice League Dark, Dark Universe, has named Doug Liman as director.
Liman was attached to direct Marvel’s Gambit film (see “'Gambit Movie' May Start Shooting Next Spring”), but has left that project, according to Variety. Liman has directed Edge of Tomorrow, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity and Go.
The film is being produced by Scott Rudin. Michael Gilio is screenwriting. Guillermo del Toro, who initially wrote the script and was hoping to direct has left for other projects (see "'Sandman' Movie to New Line").
No plot details have been revealed but the ensemble film will focus on John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.
DC Entertainment plans a “direct to video” animated feature starring the Justice League Dark for 2017 (see "DC to Animate 'Teen Titans: The Judas Contract' in 2017").
