The beleaguered film reboot of The Crow has left Relativity and has been acquired by a new group of companies, THR is reporting.
The reboot, which now sports the working title The Crow Reborn, was acquired by Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow. Edward Pressman, who produced the 1994 film, will produce along with Hadida, Highland Film Group, and Electric Shadow. Pressman developed the new film, along with Relativity, which is based on the James O’Barr graphic novel. Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity, will executive produce.
In September, The Wrap reported that the film, which had been hobbled by Relativity’s bankruptcy, was finally set to start production in January (see “'The Crow' Remake to Start Production”). The film was set to be directed by Colin Hardy, with Jason Momoa set to star as Eric Draven. Then Kavanaugh put Relativity up for sale in October. It is unknown of Hardy or Momoa will remain involved.
