Valiant held its Valiant Summit in Los Angeles this week, and revealed a number of projects for 2017, including new Quantum and Woody and Faith series.
Faith and the Future Force takes Valiant’s #1 superhero into a fight against a devious artificial intelligence that is unwriting history. Neela Sethi, Timewalker, enlists Faith “Zephyr” Herbert to lead Earth’s greatest champions in a race to save time. Written by Jody Houser with art by Stephen Segovia, Barry Kitson, and special surprise guests, the limited series launches in July. The world’s worst superhero team, Quantum and Woody, returns in a new ongoing series from Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Kano. Quantum and Woody! #1 arrives in stores in December. The popular duo was recently optioned for a TV series from the Russo Brothers (see “'Quantum and Woody' TV Series”).Matt Kindt and Doug Braithwaite will helm Harbinger Wars 2 #0, which kicks off Valiant’s 2018 crossover event (see “Valiant Teases Another War in Crossover Event”). Designed as a reward for longtime readers, the standalone issue is available only to readers who redeem all four mail-in coupons inside Harbinger Renegade #1 - 4. Harbinger Renegade #5 will start laying the foundation for the upcoming crossover (see “Valiant Introduces Cover Overlay with Warning”).
Shadowman, one of Valiant’s flagship characters, will return in 2018, Valiant revealed via CBR. The character has made few appearances in the wider Valiant universe since the last Shadowman ongoing ended in 2014. Greg Smallwood provided teaser art for the new ongoing, which launches March 28, 2018, but details on the creative team are pending.The character will be one of the primary protagonists in Rapture, a limited series from Matt Kindt and artist CAFU that kicks off in May. The story pits 12-year-old mystic Tama, Ninjak, Shadowman, and Punk Mambo against an elder god.
Secret Weapons, a prestige-format limited series by Academy-Award nominee Eric Heisserer with art by Raul Allen and Patricia Martin, kicks off in June (see “Valiant Reveals 'Secret Weapons'”).
Valiant teased Classified, a new series for August, but didn’t reveal any further details about the series or creative team.
Bloodshot Salvation, a new ongoing series from Jeff Lemire and artists Lewis LaRosa and Mico Suayan, launches in September.
Eternity is a new original limited series from Matt Kindt and artist Trevor Hairsine. The first issues hits shelves in October
In November, Ninjak gets a new ongoing by Christos Gage and artist Tomas Giorello.
