Asmadi Games has announced One Deck Dungeon:  Forest of Shadows, the follow-up to last year’s One Deck DungeonForest of Shadows is scheduled to release in September.

Like the original game, One Deck Dungeon:  Forest of Shadows is a card-driven dungeon-delving game.  One or two players, working together, assume the role of traditional fantasy role playing game characters setting out to explore a dungeon full of monsters and treasures.  When facing a challenge, the hero rolls dice color-coded to their abilities, hoping to roll numbers that match the similarly-colored boxes on the challenge.  Any unfilled boxes inflict penalties on the hero.

Forest of Shadows can be played on its own, or combined with the original One Deck Dungeon as an expansion.  It adds a number of new features to the game, including a new poison mechanic, as well as four new character classes, new encounters, and new dungeon bosses.

The game comes with 54 game cards, 5 larger hero cards, turn reference, campaign sheets, 15 heart tokens, 14 tracking cubes, and 30 translucent dice.  In addition to the full rulebook, it also includes a rules supplement for those familiar with the original game.  MSRP is $25.00.

Asmadi is funding the production through a Kickstarter campaign, that has attracted over $150,000 in support from almost 3,000 backers, with 11 days remaining.  It has already surpassed the Kickstarter campaign for the original game, which reached $122,632 from 3,061 backers.  Backer fulfillment is scheduled for September, with trade release to follow.
