Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, the pen-and-paper game based on Games Workshop’s venerable miniatures game, will soon return in a new edition from Cubicle 7 Entertainment.
Originally published in 1986, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay puts players in the often grim fantasy world of the Warhammer tabletop miniatures game. The game has been in and out of print over the last thirty years, and has passed through the hands of four different publishers during that time, most recently in a third edition from Fantasy Flight Games.
Now Cubicle 7 and Games Workshop have teamed up to create a new edition, built on the foundations of the game’s first two editions. Specific titles and release dates have not been announced, but in a press release Cubicle 7 has indicated that the new edition will launch later this year.
Cubicle 7 has a proven track record with licensed RPG products, including Tolkein’s Middle-earth (see "'Wilderland Adventures' and 'The Road Goes Ever On'"), and Doctor Who (see "'Doctor Who Roleplaying Game' 2E").
