Paizo, Inc. took advantage of its PaizoCon game convention to tease out some details of its upcoming plans, including the 2018 Pathfinder Adventure Path, the new Ultimate Wilderness sourcebook, upcoming organized play programs, and a deal for a digital CCG based on the Pathfinder world.

Starting next February, the War for the Crown will be Pathfinder’s new Adventure Path.  Centered on Taldor, this series of linked adventures will focus on espionage and intrigue.  Development of War for the Crown will be headed by Pathfinder developer Crystal Frasier (Bestiary 2, The Harrowing).

Those who make their homes in the wild will be the focus of the upcoming Ultimate Wilderness hardcover sourcebook, releasing in November.  This book features a new base character class called the shifter, which can transform parts of their bodies into animalistic forms, as well as background information on the rituals and societies of druids and the mysterious fey.  New spells, feats, magic items, and character options for a variety of classes are also included.  MSRP is $44.99.

Meanwhile, the Ruins of Azlant Adventure Path and the devilish Book of the Damned are on track to release this autumn (see “Demons and Devils Return to ‘Pathfinder’”).

Paizo’s organized play programs, the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild and Adventure Card Guild, will both launch new seasons this summer called Faction’s Favor.  Starting at Gen Con, both OP seasons will interact with each other, following the same storyline over the next year.

Also announced at the show was a new partnership between Paizo and the Chinese digital game developers DragonClaw Studio and 37Games.  The companies will be working together to create a digital collectible card game called Pathfinder Duels that will be based on the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path and features simultaneous play.  Launch is planned for this September.
