This week will see the release of a very special Invader Zim #20, written by original creator Jhonen Vasquez (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Squee!, I Feel Sick).

Series artist Warren Wucinich provides art for the issue, with Fred C. Stresing on colors.  In the issue, Zim and his robot assistant Gir are sucked into a terrible but strangely addicting cartoon called Floopsy Bloops Shmoopsy. Vasquez writes an epic tale of Zim and Gir doing... absolutely nothing.

"That’s right," syas Vasquez, "thanks to the power of comics technology, fans will finally get to see ZIM do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but sit on his butt and watch TV.  Seriously, he just sits and complains while GIR ALSO sits and does even LESS.  Don’t say we never do anything nice for you!  You’re welcome!"

Invader Zim #20 hits stands on June 14.

Oni launched an Invader Zim comic series in 2015 (see "'Invader Zim' Comics").  The comics are based upon the critically-acclaimed animated series created by Vasquez, which debuted on Nickelodeon in 2001 but was cancelled midway through its second season due to low ratings.  It has since developed a strong cult following, and Nickelodeon is planning an all-new 90-minute animated TV movie for sometime soonish (see "'Invader Zim' Returns to Nickelodeon").
