Hasbro is giving music fans a new way to create their own music mixes in a new digitally-assisted game, DropMix, created by Harmonix.  The new system is scheduled to release in August.

The DropMix Music Gaming System uses special cards loaded with songs from popular music artists like Bruno Mars, Imagine Dragons, or Meghan Trainor and an electronic board to allow players to create their own song mixes.  The device and game were created by Harmonix, best known for the smash hit music game Rock Band.

Using a downloadable mobile device app and an internet connection, the cards tell the board what music to play as players add cards.  In “Clash” mode, players score points by adding cards to create musical combinations, and the first player to reach 21 points wins the game.  Alternatively, players can use the more open “Party” mode, in which they race to fulfill audience requests.

The base set for DropMix includes the board and 60 DropMix cards.  The app can be downloaded for free and works on both iOS and Android devices.  The DropMix Music Gaming System is intended for ages 16 and up.  MSRP is $99.99.

The game is designed to be expandable, and players can acquire additional DropMix cards by adding the DropMix Playlist Pack.  Each pack comes with 15 DropMix cards and a hidden track card.  The cards in each pack are chosen from a single music genre.  Current packs include Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, EDM, R&B, and Country, each sold separately.  MSRP is $14.99 each.
