Two more factions are ready to join the battlefields of Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 with new codexes designed for the new edition when the Codex Heretic Astartes:  Chaos Space Marines and the Codex Adeptus Astartes:  Grey Knights release later this month.

Like the recently-released Codex Adeptus Astartes:  Space Marines, both of the new books include new rules related to the armies described.  Players can expand their army-building options, stratagems, warlord traits, and artifacts, while new rules for soon-to-be-released new models and updated datasheets and point costs for existing models are also featured.

The Chaos Space Marines codex features the armies of heretic space marines and provides guidelines for players to create packs of Renegades as well as forces from the original Chaos legions like the World Eaters, Night Lords, and Emperor’s Children.  Nine new chaotic psychic powers are also described.

The Grey Knights codex focuses on the elite daemon-slayers of the Imperium, with their own unique stratagems and psychic powers, as well as rules players can use to create their own Grey Knight Grand Masters, field armies of Nemesis Dreadknights, and expand the psychic powers of the Sanctic discipline.

Games Workshop has launched an all-out offensive to support the new Warhammer 40,000, which released earlier this summer (see “New ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Emerges” and “GW Plans ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Offensive”).
