A new movie telling the origin story of the Joker is in development at Warner Bros., according to Deadline, with moviemaking legend Martin Scorsese attached to produce along with Todd Phillips, who produced and directed all three The Hangover films. Phillips is also slated to direct, and is co-writing the script with Scott Silver (The Fighter, 8 Mile).
The plan is for a Joker story separate from all other Warner Bros. versions of the character, set in early 80s Gotham City a la Scorcese’s Taxi Driver.
