The forces of disease and decay take up arms against the Mortal Realms in the next big boxed set for Games Workshop’s tabletop miniatures game Warhammer Age of Sigmar.  The Blightwar boxed set will start shipping on September 2.

The Blightwar boxed set was designed to allow players to experience the next chapter in the on-going Age of Sigmar storyline.  Thwarted in his efforts to conquer the Realm of Life, the Chaos God of Disease, Nurgle, turns his eyes to the realm of Ghyran, sending his Grand Cultivator Horticulous Slimux to corrupt and conquer.  Only the Stormcast Eternals, led by the deadly huntress Neave Blacktalon, stands between Slimux and victory.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar:  Blightwar features 32 highly-detailed multi-part plastic models depicting the forces of Nurgle and the Stormcast Eternals.  Included in the boxed set are two exclusive characters, Horticulous Slimux and Neave Blacktalon, along with 10 Plaguebearers of Nurgle, 3 sets of Nurglings, 3 Plague Drones, 3 Vanguard-Raptors, 3 Aetherwings, 3 Vanguard Palladors, and 5 Vanguard Hunters.  All models are supplied unpainted, and assembly is required.

Also inside the box is a 40-page softcover book describing the history of the Realmgate Wars and the Blightwar, a description of Nurgle and his way of war, background on the Stormcast Eternals, and the “Season of Sowing.”  New game rules round out the set, including 3 new Battleplans, new Allegiance Abilities for both armies, 2 Warscroll Battalions, Warscrolls for every miniature in the box, the core rules for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and the “Wheel of Corruption,” which players can use to track Nurgle’s abilities during the game.

The boxed set will have a suggested retail price of $160.00.

Games Workshop recently released The General’s Handbook 2017 for Warhammer (see “New ‘General’s Handbook’ for ‘Warhammer:  Age of Sigmar’”).
