The biggest news was Heroes of Black Reach, scheduled for early next year (see “Iello to Release ‘Heroes of Black Reach’ in U.S.”). Created by the Devil Pig studio, this game combines the proven mechanics of the smash hit Heroes of Normandie with the fan-favorite science fiction setting Warhammer 40,000. Iello will release the game in the U.S. early next year.
This November, the ever-popular giant monster combat games King of Tokyo and King of New York can go ape with the release of the King Kong Monster Pack. This small expansion includes a King Kong monster standee and monster board, Empire State Building and Tokyo Tower figures, 8 Evolution cards for use with King of Tokyo, 8 Evolution cards for use with King of New York, and a special Beauty card to capture the giant ape’s heart. MSRP will be $9.99. Also coming this fall is TerrorEyes, a family game where players roll specialdice as fast as possible to replace TerrorEyes missing eyes. The game is for 2 - 6 players, ages 5 and up, and plays in 10 minutes.Releasing next year will be an as-yet-unnamed expansion for the cooperative deck building game The Big Book of Madness. The expansion will add new challenges in the form of a fifth magical element called “Dark Matter” as well as a second smaller book of monsters for players to fight against.
Rounding out the new announcements was an English language version of Hinata Origuchi’s Hitohira, produced in a colorful new English language version under the working title of The Legend of the Cherry Tree That Blossomed Every Ten Years, featuring artwork by Sylvain Sarrailh and scheduled for 2018. This game combines push-your-luck and set collection mechanics, and is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up. MSRP is $19.99.
