The Witchblade comic book series debuted from Top Cow Productions in 1995 and ran through late 2015. The Witchblade is a mystical weapon that chooses women as hosts, imbuing them with colossal powers. The comic has spawned TV series, anime, and manga adaptations. A new Witchblade TV series was reportedly in development earlier this year (see “New 'Witchblade' TV Series”).

The Witchblade will find a new host this December. Written by dark fantasist Caitlin Kittredge (Coffin Hill, Throwaways, Nocturne City series) and drawn by Roberta Ingranata (Van Helsing vs The Mummy of Amun-Ra, Robyn Hood), the new ongoing from Image Comics imprint Top Cow follows Alex Underwood, a journalist who becomes host to the ancient artifact created by Marc Silvestri, with Brian Haberlin, Michael Turner, and David Wohl. Witchblade #1 will drop in stores on December 6.
