Marvel Comics is bringing back Jean Grey. Matthew Rosenberg (Secret Warriors, Punisher) will revive the original Jean Grey in Phoenix Resurrection. The five-issue series will feature work from five different artists. The first issue, which is drawn by artist Leinil Yu (Secret Empire), will be in stores on December 27. Art Adams provides a variant cover for the issue.
Jean Grey died more than a decade ago in Grant Morrison’s run on New X-Men. Since, a time-displaced and younger version of the character has been appearing in Marvel titles. Few details on how Rosenberg is resurrecting the character were offered.
The return is part of the Marvel Legacy initiative and undoubtedly related to the importance of the character to the X-Men films. Jean Grey will be the focus of the next film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which will debut on November 2, 2018 (see "Dazzler in 'Dark Phoenix,' 'Jurassic World 2' Set, 'Spider-Man' Trilogy, More").
