Sharp-eyed viewers who posted on the Anime on DVD forums noted that the online trailer for Satoshi Kon's new TV anime series, Paranoia Agent (Mousou Dairinin) contains a credit for Geneon USA (formerly Pioneer Animation). The citation would appear to indicate that Geneon has invested in the project, a practice that is becoming increasingly prevalent among the companies that package anime for the U.S., and which should result in Geneon picking up North American rights to the series. Satoshi Kon, who is perhaps best known in the U.S. for his feature films Millenium Actress (recently released on DVD here) and Tokyo Godfathers, which was shown at the Big Apple Anime Fest, has secured a position in the forefront of anime directors, and his new Paranoia Agent series, which debuts on WOWOW in Japan on February 2, 2004, has been eagerly awaited by hard core anime fans.
