Warner Bros. Television and DC will explore Superman's big-city home in a new live action series. Metropolis will air exclusively on the DC direct-to-consumer digital service.

In the at-least-initially Superman-less series, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor investigate the world of fringe science and the bizarre secrets of the city. Metropolis, which received a direct-to-series order, is from Gotham executive producers John Stephens and Danny Cannon. The 13-episode first season will begin production later this year and will air in 2019. Further details on casting were not revealed.

Metropolis is the second live-action series announced for the DC digital service. Warner Bros. previously announced Titans, which stars Anna Dip (Starfire), Teagan Croft (Raven), Minka Kelly (Dove), and Alan Ritchson (Hawk) (see “First Look at Hawk and Dove”). Animated series Harley Quinn (see “Harley Quinn Gets Animated”) and Young Justice: Outsiders (see “Live-Action 'Titans' Will Air on DC Digital Service”) are also slated for the platform.
