Valeria: Card Kingdoms is a tableau-building game where players are rival dukes hoping to be the next king of Valeria by proving bravery and building up their domain (see “'Valeria: Card Kingdoms'”). Shadowvale introduces new monsters, domains, dukes and citizens, inspired by classic horror tropes, like vampires and werewolves. The expansion can be played with just the base game, or mixed with the base game and previous expansions.
At the minimum, the box includes 35 new monster cards in 5 monster stacks, 60 new citizen cards (10 stacks of 6 cards each), and 20 new domain cards, along with all the necessary divider cards to add this expansion to the original Valeria: Card Kingdoms box. MSRP is $25.00.
There are additional cards that will be exclusive to the Kickstarter version, as well as a number of stretch goal cards. There is also Valeria: Card Kingdoms – Expansion Pack #6: Relics which includes a whole new mechanic, which is also exclusive to the Kickstarter. Additional add on items include tokens, a dice and coins box, and playmats.
The Kickstarter has raised $105,204 from 2,496 backers ($42.15 /backer average), as of this writing, with 24 hours until completion. The Kickstarter includes a retailer level for a preorder of at least one case (12 games) for $1, until Daily Magic is ready to ship rewards to backers. Retailers are welcome to add-on additional Kickstarter items to their order.
