Publisher Quick Simple Fun Games was showing off its new project at the GAMA Trade Show:  an art-inspired card game called de stijl, releasing on April 18.

Inspired by the minimalist art of the De Stijl movement—exemplified by the artworks of Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, and Gerrit Reitveld—the de stijl card game invites players to collaborate on creating their own geometrical design.  Quick Simple Fun’s Project Manager Michael Mihealsick described the game to ICv2:

“It’s a card laying game where you are an artist.  You’re trying to get your color to be the most represented among the piece.  You’re going to lay cards out over the course of the game.  Each card you lay is going to cover up two, three, or four cells of colors on the cards down.  At the end of the game, you’re going to get points for the number of different strokes of your color.  Also, the player that has the largest stroke with the most cells in it, they’ll get a little bonus there.”

De stijl is intended for 2 to 5 players and takes about half an hour to play.  MSRP is $15.99.

Quick Simple Fun finished last year by releasing the party game Muse (see “Summon Inspiration in ‘Muse’”).
