Valiant Entertainment announced the promotion of Managing Editor Robert Meyers to Editorial Director, effective immediately. In his new role Meyers will have an increased role in shaping Valiant’s publishing plan in the future, as well as continuing his duties in editorial and operations.

“Robert is a highly valued member of our editorial team – he’s a very strong influence in the bullpen and is hands-on with every aspect of the process, from nascent ideas to complete 32-page comic books,” said Valiant Publisher Fred Pierce. “Giving Robert more responsibilities in the conceptual and planning stages is just a natural evolution of his encyclopedic knowledge of the Valiant Universe and exceptional editing skills.”

Meyers joined Valiant as Operations Coordinator in 2013, then spent time as Managing Editor at Double Take before returning to the company as Managing Editor in July 2016.

Valiant has added several new staff members in the last month: Joe Illidge as Executive Editor (see "Valiant Adds Joe Illidge"), Mel Caylo as Director of Marketing (see "Mel Caylo to Valiant"), and Karl Bollers as Editor (see "Valiant Hires Editor").

This announcement comes a day after Valiant Editor-in-Chief Warren Simons announced he had left the company (see “Warren Simons Leaves Valiant”). There has been a lot of staff turnover since Chinese company DMG Entertainment acquired the comic publisher in January (see “Valiant Comics Acquired by DMG Entertainment”).
