Beasts of Burden co-creator Evan Dorkin has a new series planned for the Wise Dogs of Burden Hill. Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men is a four-issue miniseries from Dorkin, artist Benjamin Dewey (The Autumnlands), and letterer Nate Piekos. The first issue, which features a variant cover by Rafael Albuquerque (Batman), will be in stores August 22 from Dark Horse Comics.

Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men follows the Wise Dogs, the elders of the intelligent animal community of Burden Hill, as they investigate seemingly unrelated occult incidents in the community and encounter a terrible occult force that lures various terrors to the area.

On May 9, Dark Horse will release the first Beasts of Burden series, which was co-created by Dorkin and artist Jill Thompson, a new trade paperback edition (see “'Beasts Of Burden: Animal Rites'”). The series has earned eight Eisner Awards over its publication history.
