Osprey Games is sending players in search of an unknown creature in the new deduction card game Cryptid, releasing on September 18.

Acting as a team of cryptozoologists, the players of Cryptid must piece together the evidence of a near-mythical creature, trying to be the first to reveal the discovery to the world.  Each player holds a part of the mystery, and they must collect the clues that the other players have while trying to keep their own clues secret.  The player who can collect the clues the fastest wins the game.

Cryptid comes with a modular board, five clue books, and a deck of cards that are used to set up the mystery for the game, with hundreds of possible combinations with different levels of difficulty.  Players can also use an optional companion app to handle the game setup.  The game was created by designers Hal Duncan and Ruth Veevers and features artwork by Kwanchai Moriya (Dinosaur Island, Catacombs).  It is intended for 3 to 5 players.  MSRP is $35.00.

September will also see the release of an expansion for Osprey’s hit The Lost Expedition (see "Osprey Sends ‘The Lost Expedition’ On New Adventures").
