Bonfire Agency Founding Partner Steve Rotterdam has added a role as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Aftershock Comics. In addition to his experience at Bonfire, which he co-founded in 2010 to help "...brands establish and deepen connections to ‘comic culture’ and its related enthusiast communities" (see "Rotterdam, Catto Start Bonfire"), Rotterdam was SVP Marketing & Sales at DC Comics from 2007 to 2010 (see "DC Has New S&M SVP").
Aftershock was founded in 2015 with an executive suite powered by tech and content veterans, and editors Mike Marts and Joe Pruett as the publishing heads (see "New Publisher Formed with Marts, Pruett").
Aftershock Editor-in-Chief Marts and Rotterdam previously worked together at DC. "I enjoyed several years of working alongside Steve at DC Comics and I’m looking forward to continuing that run of success and innovation here," Marts said of the hire.
Meanwhile, "Bonfire is definitely not shutting down," Rotterdam told ICv2. "I’ll continue to provide marketing services to our non-competitive clients and lead the agency’s on-going initiatives, especially the ones centered on the comic retail community."
