Lion Forge has made another addition to its staff, adding industry vet Andrew E.C. Gaska as Senior Development Editor. In the position, Gaska will generate new IP for comics and animation projects. He will also be part of Lion Forge’s licensing team.
Gaska has two decades of experience in the comics and video game industries as a writer, content developer, and consultant, and he has done freelance work for Lion Forge as a script, pitch, and proposal writer. Gaska has been a freelance franchise consultant to 20th Century Fox, defining and facilitating the extended universes for several film franchises, including Planet of the Apes, Alien, and Predator. He is also founder, creative director and CEO for BLAM! Ventures, a studio specializing in licensed and original properties that has overseen prose novel series for Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and Planet of the Apes and a graphic novel series for Space: 1999. Gaska also served as a visual consultant for Rockstar Games, contributing to Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Revolver, and other games.
“In this newly created position, I’m responsible for the creation and development of new intellectual properties at Lion Forge,” says Gaska. “I will not only be writing for these projects but also guiding the creative process through to completion. Tackling animation and comics from an author’s perspective and with an artist’s approach, I’ll be working closely with the creative teams and studios involved to ensure that both our vision and theirs are not lost in the translation.”
Lion Forge has been growing lately, recently adding Gail Simone as a chief architect of Catalyst Prime (see “Gail Simone to Oversee Lion Forge's Catalyst Prime Universe”), and adding Jill Gerber as a director of education outreach and collections (see “Lion Forge Hires Director of Education Outreach and Collections”). The company is also adding a middle grade imprint (see “Lion Forge Adds Middle Grades Imprint”) and a hybrid comics / gaming imprint (see “Lion Forge Plans Hybrid Comic/Gaming Imprint”).
